June has proven to be a very hot month here in Nashville, TN. While we are hosting many groups weekly, we are experiencing incredible heat in the warehouse and on the streets. Many would think that being homeless in the summer is easier than in the winter, but that is not the case. Because of a lack of water, pest infestations, and heat stroke, our homeless friends suffer a great deal in the summer. Please remember them over the next few months in your prayers.
Since school is out for the summer, many church and youth groups have volunteered their time this month helping us in the warehouse and serving in the street service. The Bridge Ministry would like to say a special thank you to: The Fire Place Fellowship from Gallatin, TN, Southwood Lutheran Church from Lincoln, NE, Cookville First Assembly from Cookville, TN, First Baptist Goodlettsville from Goodlettsville, TN, and Columbia Church of the Nazarene from Columbia, KY for all the hard work you all have put in.
The Bridge Ministry received a huge answer to prayer this month by getting our walk-in cooler and freezer up and working. A group of men from Edgil Grove Baptist Church in Jasper, AL, donated their time and money to come to the warehouse on a extremely hot day to make it all happen. Thank you so much to H.L. Hutchinson, Jason Hartley, Jake Hartley, Randy Jordan, Don Eaton, and James Lay for your amazing gift!
We are proud to announce that Candy Christmas, The Bridge Ministry’s founder & president, will be releasing a new CD entitled “On The Other Side” and an accompanying book entitled “On The Other Side: Life-Changing Stories from Under The Bridge” in August. The album and book are officially online for pre-sale and all proceeds will go to funding The Bridge Ministry. For more information, check out www.candychristmas.com.
I want to thank all of the volunteers who give their time to serving the poor and thank you to all the donors for your financial support. We could not do what we do without you all, and I hope we never have to. Be sure to check out our weekly updates on Twitter and Facebook and I hope to see you under the Bridge!
God bless,
The Bridge Ministry
