Last year was the largest Christmas service we had to date and it is all because of you and your heart for the less fortunate! This Christmas we are planning for even larger crowds and more gifts to give to our friends than ever before. Many churches are collecting hats, gloves, scarves, tents, and coats to give away this year for Christmas and we are so excited to say that everyone will be getting a sleeping bag as well! One need that has not been met as of yet is our growing need for children’s toys. We are asking all of our volunteers and churches to please donate new toys for Christmas so each child under the Bridge can have a special gift. Toys for all ages are needed and you can send them to or drop them at 533 Brick Church Park Drive, Nashville, TN 37207.

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,…” (Eph. 3:20a)
That verse has become a theme for us at The Bridge. The end of 2010 brought immeasurable blessings at our Christmas service as we joined together with partnering churches and celebrated the life of Christ with our homeless friends. We had churches from TN, AL, KY, IN, and others that brought sleeping bags, emergency blankets, candy canes, hand warmers, cookies, fruit, backpacks, and more! With over 800 in attendance, which included our friends & volunteers, it made for a wonderful evening! At the end of the service, we all joined together as one in communion and carols by candlelight. Be sure to check out pictures of that evening, taken by our resident photographer, Chuck Webster: http://www.flickr.com/photos/candychristmas/sets/72157625530659615/
We also want to thank FBC Goodlettsville (TN) for hosting this year’s Christmas dinner for our homeless friends. On a very snowy and cold Sunday evening in December, buses made their way to the Jefferson Street Bridge to pick up our friends, and brought them to FBC Goodlettsville as the guests of honor at a beautiful sit down dinner. They were fed a delicious meal complete with rolls donated by O’Charley’s! As they left, each of our friends were given a brand new backpack stuffed with a flashlight, umbrella, sweatshirt, pair of socks, Bible, candy, and much more! Special thanks to Anchor Trailways for helping us out with transportation.
Thank you to each and everyone who helped make Christmas 2010 such a huge success!
