October Newsletter

Through the month of October we have watched as our stock market crashed and home foreclosures at all time highs. We are beginning to see the effects of our economic crisis under The Jefferson St. Bridge. When the weather starts to turn cold our numbers under the bridge usually start to go down. Many of our homeless will go into shelters or move further south for the winter. The last few weeks the number of homeless under the bridge has continued to raise.

With the temperatures steadily dropping, it is so hard to see so many of our homeless friends out in this cold weather. When we arrived at the bridge this last Tuesday night I noticed one of our homeless men standing by our truck just shivering. He had no jacket and was trying to warm himself from the heat off the engine of the truck. This was absolutely heart wrenching. The Bridge Ministry had brought down jackets that night because the weather had shifted so drastically so he was able to get a jacket to keep warm.

We want to thank David and Judy Cribbs they helped make that happen. They came all the way from Oklahoma with a U-Haul trailer full of Jackets, blankets and jeans for the homeless of Nashville. They worked with churches in the Tishomingo, OK area to collect all the needed supplies. It was a huge blessing for the ministry.

If you are looking for away to help those that are in need. Here are some areas you can help. The Bridge Ministry is in need of sleeping bags, coats, tents, men's jeans and hygiene products. You can even get your church involved by having sleeping bag drive, tent drive etc. Then once you have collected the needed items you could bring them down to the bridge so you can witness what an amazing work the Lord is doing in the lives of those who society has cast out.
